New Pipe Pulling Machine Technology

The key to a high speed production line lies in the quality of your pipe puller or “haul-off.”  A well designed and fabricated haul-off that utilizes the most advanced motor, driver, and belt technology will allow you to produce the best quality pipe, at a higher line speed.

In fact, in order for your production line to produce consistently quality pipe at a high speed, your production line needs a reliable haul-off. The pipe pulling machine sets the speed of the line by pulling the pipe from the extruder and down the production line at a steady speed. The haul-off is also where other machines such as the extruder or any cutting machines get their synchronization signal from. Traditional pipe pulling machines have struggled with problems such as inconsistent wall thickness or linear density, pipes out of round, stretched sagging and scratched pipes are all problems with traditional haul-offs.

Tackling Common Pipe Pulling Challenges

DRTS solves these common problems with our line of technologically advanced pipe pulling machines. Our pipe pulling machines set a consistent speed for the production line using advanced belt technology to pull firmly and delicately, preventing jerking, breaking, scratching, stretching and ovality in pipes. DRTS pipe haul-offs also employ state of the art motor and drive technology to keep a consistent line speed and properly synchronize force and speed of two, three or more pulling belt “arms” (for large diameters). Our unique arm design ensures stable belt tension of the haul-off preventing slippage and jerks of the pipe during production. Each pulling arm has its own motor so that the forces are symmetrical and properly synchronized through the advanced motor drive technology. This ensures a stable pulling force but also allows the haul-off to operate (at lower speeds) even if there is a failure on one of the other arm motors preventing production downtime.

Consistency

DRTS belt haul-offs (and capstan) are known for especially consistent performance even at high production speeds. Stability of the pulling speed is extremely important and DRTS pullers keep a 0.01% line speed accuracy. The key to our stability is a consistent pulling force which provides consistent tension on the line and prevent pipe slippage. We use a unique mechanism to prevent pipe ovality while our unique belt designs assures proper pulling without slippage. Our pulling machines can pull pipe ranging from 6mm to 630mm round and flat pipe (tape). The DRTS haul-offs require little or no maintenance at all, giving you ease of mind and production confidence.

Speed

The haul-off is the line speed indicator for a production line, and many other components on the production line rely on the haul-off for line speed. Our haul-offs can reach speeds of up to 300 meters per minute.

Compatibility

DRTS supplies a range of standalone haul-offs that can be easily installed into existing lines without making any changes. DRTS haul-offs use a wide range of communication and synchronization protocols to communicate with extruders, such protocols include Ethernet/IP, Modbus/TCP, Profibus, Euromap or any other communication form needed.  We offer a full range of pullers for all piping applications, including drip irrigation, HDPE, PPR and PVC pipes.
