Improving drip irrigation technology so that our machines create the highest quality product is part of what sets DRTS apart. We have created and patented technology to address one of the biggest problems in drip irrigation: clogging. By studying, identifying, and eliminating labyrinth dead zones in the dripper, we are able reduce clogged drip emitters.

Maintaining turbulence is important to all applications of drip irrigation, from agriculture to mining. Without it, drippers experience inevitable clogging, shortening the potential lifetime use of the dripline and increasing expenses. A clogged dripper also means a particular plant is not getting the water and nutrients it needs to grow. This is a problem in all settings, but particularly in a greenhouse setting where the drip irrigation is the only source of water and in Mining where a specialized solution is used. Traditional drippers clog because they have dead zones, areas within the labyrinth where the water velocity slows. Sediment in the water settles in these dead zones and builds up over time until it begins restricting flow.

DRTS drippers, from the Monsoon to the Mini feature our Omniflow™ technology. This patented design eliminates dead zones in the drip labyrinth, ensuring the full labyrinth has turbulence. Maintaining consistent turbulence throughout the dripper reduces settling of suspended solids into these dead zones and helps prevent clogging. In other designs, suspended solids in the irrigation water can build up in problematic areas of the labyrinth and eventually block the flow.

Turbulent at Lower Pressures

To prevent buildup and clogging, drippers must maintain turbulence any time water is flowing through the device. This means that, even starting up at low pressure, stabilizing as it reaches full flow, and in a steady state moving forward, maintaining turbulence. Omniflow™ drippers accomplish this by featuring a tighter labyrinth pattern that eliminates traditional dead zones.

Turbulent Through the Entire Labyrinth

Traditional drippers have a significant amount of dead zones, space where the water isn’t flowing as quickly and freely and thus allow buildup of particles that can eventually clog the dripper. With an efficient labyrinth, DRTS Omniflow™ drippers create turbulence throughout the entire dripper, preventing buildup and reducing the possibility of clogging.

Free of Non-Turbulent Dead Zones

An efficient labyrinth means that traditional non-turbulent dead zones are almost completely removed. With nowhere for sediment to build up, there’s nowhere to clog. This is true during startup’s minimal flow as well as when the flow is steady state.
